HEAD START MANAGEMENT MTG.

Persons attending: Cathy Gray, Linda Botts, Kelly Menking, Susan Bowe, Rosalind Sullivan-Whitley, Vicki Wilson, Monica Sloneker, Melanie Garcia, Dianne Dahlstrom and Dorothy Varela
1. Domestic Violence Survey: Linda has received the Domestic Violence Surveys from Jamestown and Soulsbyville. They are all due by Jan. 25.
2. Galileo: Galileo is changing to on-line version. Bernie Legud /Reg IX has begun a users group to answer questions and concerns. When it is all set up Scott will train on the user group.
3. All Staff 1/29: Roz will be Capt., Cary, Monica, and Dorothy will do morning coffee and snacks. Sonora and Soulsbyville will do set up, Vicki will be Capt. Mgrs. will do cleanup with Scott as Capt. Amador staff will do a skit, (Bear Hunt), and Sonora will do “Itsy Bitsy Spider”.
4. Soulsbyville: Parking is still a problem. Souls. school has complained about congestion and parking in the fire lane. The new HS contract with Souls. is due in Oct 01. Cathy asked if next year would be full day. Very possible state collaboration to have full day at Souls. and Groveland. Staff may transfer or possibly work for the County. Subject of an irate parent at Souls. was discussed. Man was arguing with wife, openly does not like HS and his manner was threatening. It was suggested that Cathy speak with Diane Paige about Souls. procedure along these lines, and if she felt he was being threatening that she should call the sheriff.
5. Bleach: Bleach solution should be 1-10. Melanie asked what proportion should be used in a 16 oz. container. It would be 1.6 oz. Solution should be made fresh every day.
6. Parent Meetings: Roz said that parent meetings are to plan education topics, and not for classroom update. Talk groups with Walt Reed should be planned on separate dates.
7. Family Advocate: The Family Advocate title has been changed to Family Advocate. Open hire is currently being done. Family Advocates now working will sign new job descriptions and will be given raises in pay.
8. Transition Event: Vicki and Roz have meet with Celeste Boyd to plan for the yearly transition event. It will be held at the Fairgrounds on March 21 and will be catered by Banny’s. There will be a planning meeting on 2/15 at 3:00. They have discussed having a panel to answer questions from the audience.
9. Nutrition Classes: Susan urged the teachers to push the nutrition classes put on by the UC Extension. Classes will be ongoing throughout the year. Fliers are out. Parents should claim inkind for their attendance.
10. Brochure: Roz passed out copies of the new “draft” brochure for comment and input.
11. Health Screenings: Susan reminded that all are due unless registered late. She also has vouchers to pay for vision screening/glasses for children who have no coverage at all.
12. CHSA in Oakland: Cathy reported that Soulsbyville parents who attended the conference brought back many wonderful items and ideas to share with the classes.
13. Jamestown: Monica said that County Schools will transport Jamestown food only until Jan. 26. She suggested that Bobbie, Marcee, or Valerie might be able to transport food until a permanent solution could be found. Roz mentioned that WorkStart might be available to do it. Monica will look into that possibility.
14. NHSA: Linda announced one opening for staff to go to NHSA. She decided to open it up to LCTs before regular staff. Melanie would definitely like to be considered. Diana, Kelly, and Juanita will be given an opportunity to present statements if they should be interested also. Reply is requested by Jan. 29.
