1. Classroom Reentry from Therapeutic Preschool  – Guest Julie Poole and Donna Martin spoke regarding the children’s re entry into the classroom for the Therapeutic Preschool. It really does not work well and they PRAISED our staff for their hard work. A statement of concern (case management) would be of great help to them with parents before they are referred to the first 5 program. Don’t second guess yourself – go ahead and talk with the parents. Julie gave a hand out  “Creating Environments that Help manage challenging behaviors” and went over it briefly. Linda Botts recommended they come back in the fall for a pre service training on this hand out and go into depth.

2. Working w/Children w/Special Needs– Linda Botts wants to develop a policy and procedures to deal with this. Wants the help to develop from Julie and Donna. Julie can do the IDP w/social emotional side of this. Special Ed may need to be involved. IEP w/ severe issues Linda would like to have Tiffeny, Susan and herself need to be there. Linda wanted to know if the management would like to see a procedure on this – yes!  Again it was recommended that the developmental history be filled out with the application. (NEXT AGENDA)

3. Employee Leave Policy  – “Under California Family Rights Act of 1993 if you have more than 12 months services and have worked at least 1250 hours in the 12 months period before the date you want to begin your leave, you may have a right to an unpaid family care or medical leave. This leave may be up to 12 workweeks in a 12 month period for the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of your child or for your own serious health condition or that of your child, parent or spouse.”   You can read more from the poster in the print room. It appears we have not followed this with some of our people. It would be good for you to request information on the combination of our sick policy and the CFRA if you need to be on extended leave or even shorten workweek type of leave.

4. Cleaning Services – SO center reported that their floors are not mopped, garbage not taken out and this is not the first time. Linda asked what everyone thought hiring a part time person to do the cleaning they felt it would be a good thing. Several cleaning services and none have really worked out. It seems our own staff would work out better.

5. LCT Meeting – Jane reported on their meeting as a positive time of interaction and bonding. They would like to have one day a month to clean and prepare lesson. This would make a longer year for the classes. Lisa indicated that a deep cleaning is scheduled for April. Linda asked the question what do you want to accomplish during the one day. She would like you to develop an action plan. Monica recommended two people be hiring as floaters. Linda will asked Ameri Corp to provide these people next year. Our centers are out of compliance in the area of cleanliness. TH parents came into clean last night and the center shines today.

Galileo training was great the LCT want and need more training like that.

Portfolios are they mandatory? Yes they are. LCT would like training on an easy way to do these.

There is a need for training on filling out the Supplies list could be part of a flip flop next year. Who fills out the forms? Good news is that the Head Start manuels and forms will be on line by fall (MATOWIEH).

Calling subs: LCTs would like to have one person for the staff to call when they need a sub and that person be responsible for calling to find a sub. That way the person doing the calling will know which subs are available and which ones are already working it would save lots of duplicate calling with not results. We waste a lot of time trying to find a sub and if we are sick it is taking a lot of energy that we really do not have.

The LCTs would like to see the dress code revisited and possibly revised.

Merit increases: How does it work? Some get them and some don’t. This is outlined in the ATCAA policy. How are changes made to the policy? Linda indicated they could make a recommendation through her and also we have two people on the ATCAA assessment team that could take this concern to – Mary Grevencamp and Jennifer Murrell.

6. Mother Loda Parade – Roz indicated it was SF turn to head this event up. We have a truck from Mother Lode Motors. We need ideas. Some felt the parents really did not want to do the parade. Roz ask the LCTs to ask their parents if they want to participate and get back to her.

7. Parent Volunteer Appreciation Month – Next month is coming fast and it is PVA month. Roz had a great idea which the staff liked, she will purchase some of the supplies and get them to each center.

8. CPR– Susan indicated for the staff in Tuolumne there could be a CPR training on May 19-20. How do we accomplish this – do a minimum day, flip flop. No decision was reached.

9. Galileo – You can input into this, you can explore it is a wonderful tools have fun!

10. Literacy Binders – Debbie brought a literacy note book they us in Amador and passed it around for all to look at. It was noted that be need to beef up the literacy teaching in our centers.

11. NRS– The second round of testing is in April. Jane will do TH, Lisa, Tiffeny, and Debbie will do the others and then every one will meet with Tiffeny.

12. Statement of Concerns –They need to have a quicker response time. Attach Lap D and health issues to the SOC. The team is now meeting every other week to work on these. They need you to respond to requests quickly so the process can move faster. Thanks
