Teaching staff track and document observation of each child’s developmental
progress throughout the program year, noting any changes in physical appearance
or emotional and behavioral patterns.
Observations and information documented may come from any Head Start staff,
the child’s parents, the child’s primary care provider, or any individual
with significant contact with the child.
Family Advocates use the Head Start data tracking system to record and
update all documentation regarding the child’s development. Written records
are secured in the Family File.
Teaching staff, Family Advocates, and parents may submit a Statement of
Concern if there are signs of injury or illness or any negative change in the
child’s development. (See attached
Statement of Concern.)
The Child Development Specialist will review the Statement of Concern and
follow the procedure outlines in CFR1304.20c A, 3-4.
