1304.21a1(ii) Children with Disabilities Inclusiveness - The program is
inclusive of children with disabilities, consistent with their Individualized
Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP) (see
45 CFR 1308 Disabilities).
A. Each IEP for preschoolers with disabilities contain the following
documents:
- A statement of the child’s present levels of social, emotional,
cognitive, physical, and speech and language development, or range of
functioning and types of self-help skills.
- A statement of expected outcomes or goals and objectives for each child
and family
- A statement of specific early intervention or special education and
related services to be provided to each child.
- An identification of the personnel responsible for planning,
delivering, and supervising services, projected dates for the initiation
of services, and the expected duration of services.
B. Teaching staff will follow each IFSP and IEP carefully when
individualizing the child development and education approach for children with
disabilities. Staff will bring Child Assessment Results to meetings in order to integrate with IEP
goals
C. Services provided under the IFSPs and IEPs will enable teachers, home
visitors, and volunteers to include children with disabilities in both the
overall and individualized education programs. Teaching staff will adhere to the
following procedures:
- Develop learning environments that are varied and interesting so that
children can choose from several learning activities
- Use routines, activities, and experiences in the daily program that
achieve the goals of the IFSP or IEP
- Participate in meetings with experts in disabilities and health, and
with other appropriate personnel, to plan and implement the IFSP or IEP.
- Draw upon the principles of adult education to guide staff and parents
in implementing the IFSP or IEP
- Place identified goals from IFSP or IEP on the Individual Learning Plan
and on the weekly lesson plan.
D. Staff will participate in training for identification and intervention
strategies
