Health Check Procedures (8/97)
- In order to secure a safe health environment for all children, a health
check must be done on each child before they are signed in. This needs to be
accomplished in a positive, non- threatening manner. Special attention should
be paid to a child who has been absent due to illness or exposed to a
contagious disease.
- Staff will examine each child upon arrival to school within the presence
of the parent/guardian and conduct Daily Health Check (see Daily Health Check
Form)
- If any of the conditions on Daily Health Check are identified, the
parent will take the child home and keep him/her home until symptoms are no
longer present.
- If a child becomes ill during class time, the child will be isolated
from other children and the parent/guardian will be notified to pick up the
child.
- Exposure notices will be sent home if a child in the classroom has a
communicable disease. The Health Services Manager can be contacted to
determine if a notice needs to be sent
