Health Check Procedures (8/97)

  1. In order to secure a safe health environment for all children, a health check must be done on each child before they are signed in. This needs to be accomplished in a positive, non- threatening manner. Special attention should be paid to a child who has been absent due to illness or exposed to a contagious disease.
  2. Staff will examine each child upon arrival to school within the presence of the parent/guardian and conduct Daily Health Check (see Daily Health Check Form)
  3. If any of the conditions on Daily Health Check are identified, the parent will take the child home and keep him/her home until symptoms are no longer present.
  4. If a child becomes ill during class time, the child will be isolated from other children and the parent/guardian will be notified to pick up the child.
  5. Exposure notices will be sent home if a child in the classroom has a communicable disease. The Health Services Manager can be contacted to determine if a notice needs to be sent
