1304.22(e)(1) Staff, volunteers, and children wash their hands with soap and running water at least at the following times (as appropriate):

  • After diapering or toilet use;

  • Before food preparation, handling, consumption, or any other food-related activity (e.g., setting the table);

  • Whenever hands are contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids; and

  • After handling pets or other animals.

  • After removing gloves

Hand Washing Procedure (8/97)

  1. The best way to reduce disease risk in the center is for staff and children to follow recommended hand washing procedures

  1. Use liquid soap and running water

  2. Scrub all parts of hands vigorously for at least 10 seconds

  3. Rinse hands well. Leave the water running.

  4. Dry hands with paper towel.

  5. Use the paper towel to turn off the faucet
