The Home Visitor is responsible for introducing, arranging and providing
Head Start services.
ATCAA Head Start home base programs provide four home visits per month
per family, and a minimum of 24 home visits per program year.
Home visits for home base programs last a minimum of 1.5 hours each.
Home Visitors will maintain a maximum caseload of 10-12 home base Head
Start families.
Home Visitors offer home base program families the opportunity to
participate in 16 group socializations per program year.
Group socializations will be focused on both the children and the
parents.
Home Visitors will arrange with the family to make up any planned home
visits or group socializations that were canceled by Head Start staff.
Home Visitors will conduct group socializations only with the primary
caregiver.
(See CFR #1304.21a.1, Childhood Development and Educational Approach, for
further information.)
The purpose of the home visit is to help parents improve their parenting
skills.
Head Start home base programs use the home as the child's primary
learning environment.
Home Visitors will work with parents to help them provide learning
opportunities that enhance their child's growth and development.
(See Parental Involvement in Child Development and Education in this
Section, under B, home base programs.)
