SUBJECT:   STAFF COMMUNICATIONS

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: To establish and implement systems to ensure that timely and accurate information is provided to parents, policy groups, staff, and the general community.

OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES:

I.   Communication among Staff: Communication among staff is on-going and is accomplished in a number of ways including staff meetings, written procedures and memos, and informal discussions.

            A.  Staff meetings:

1.    Service Area Managers (SAM) Meetings: Service Area Managers meet at least once a month amongst themselves to discuss plans, information, issues, successes, and to help one another find solutions to problems.

2.    Management Team Meetings:  These are comprised of Lead Center Teachers and SAMs, are held at least monthly while school is in session, and are similar to SAM meetings, described above.

3.    Center Staff Meetings:  Center staff will meet at least once a month, with as many of the staff in attendance as possible, to share information and problem-solve.

4.    Staff Content Area Meetings: Content area staff (e.g., Family Advocates, Classroom Assistants) meets monthly or as needed with the content area specialist for training and information-sharing.

            B.  Written Procedures and Memos:  These may take many forms.  Most communication between the office and centers is accomplished by email, fax, and telephone.  The use of email is strongly encouraged because it can be done at times convenient to staff, quick, and is usually less open to misunderstanding than spoken communication.  Staff members are to check for email messages at least once a day.

            C.  Matowih.org: ATCAA ECS Policies and Procedures, as well as other helpful information or links to other information, are available on line at Matowih.org.  Type in a word such as “Owie Reports” to quickly find pertinent procedures and other helps.

            D.  Informal Discussions: Talk with one another often.  Some of the best ideas and solutions result from these informal discussions.  It is especially important to team functioning to talk about things that bother you with the parson(s) involved.  Maintain courtesy and respect at all times, and do not breach confidentiality.
